The Secret Gardens of Oxford's Colleges - Wednesday 1st July - SOLD OUT

Our series of exclusive Oxford tours continues with Helena Chance, a lecturer on historical gardens at Oxford University. With Helena as your guide, you will tour a mostly unknown selection of secret gardens of Oxford, notably Rhodes House, St John’s and Green College Gardens.

Your day will begin with morning coffee in the beautiful walled gardens of Le Manoir before you are escorted into Oxford. Behind the walls of Oxford’s ancient colleges lie acres of beautiful and historic gardens some of which are rarely, if ever, seen by visitors.

After an illustrated talk on the fascinating history of Oxford’s contribution to gardens and gardening, you will explore some of the small private college gardens not normally open to the public and meet a college gardener who will provide the insiders view. Explore three gardens of medieval to modern origin, each with their own gardening styles which compliment and enhance the architecture.

You will then return to Le Manoir for a Ruinart Champagne reception followed by a 3-course lunch with accompanying wines. After lunch you may wish to discover Le Manoir gardens at your leisure.
