The Secret Gardens of Oxford's Colleges - Tuesday 29th June - SOLD OUT

Our series of exclusive Oxford tours continues with our good friend Helena Chance, a lecturer on historical gardens at Oxford University. With Helena as your guide, you will tour a mostly unknown selection of secret gardens of Oxford, notably Wadham College, Rhodes House and Christ Church.

Your day will begin with morning coffee in the beautiful walled gardens of Le Manoir before Helena gives you an illustrated talk on the fascinating history of Oxford's contribution to gardens and gardening and some background on your day ahead. You will then be driven into Oxford. Behind the walls of Oxford’s ancient colleges lie acres of beautiful and historic gardens, some of which are rarely, if ever, seen by visitors. You will explore some of the small private college gardens not normally open to the public and meet two college gardeners who will provide an insider's view. Explore three gardens of medieval to modern origin, each with their own gardening styles which
complement and enhance the architecture.

Helena Chance has lived in Oxford for many years, she knows the city well and has numerous contacts both inside and outside the university. She draws on these and her background as a lecturer to organise her exclusive cultural and educational events.

You will then return to Le Manoir for a Champagne Ruinart reception followed by a three-course lunch with accompanying wines. After lunch, take some time to discover Le Manoir's gardens at your leisure.
