Orient-Express Safaris: The Great Dance of Life

Northern Botswana, June 2009: Today, high-end travellers are seeking a more meaningful journey. Those who are privileged to visit the natural wonder and “otherworldliness” of the Okavango Delta in Northern Botswana, have the opportunity to experience such a meaningful journey. Guests at Orient-Express Safaris’ three luxury camps - Eagle Island Camp in the Okavango Delta, Savute Elephant Camp in the Chobe Desert and Khwai River Lodge adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve - will not only marvel at the abundant wildlife and the tranquility of these remote locations, but will also learn the art of tracking and communicating with wild animals, and visit villages that are inaccessible to other travellers.
A boat trip through the Okavango channels will take you into the heart of the Delta to the traditional ‘Noxa’ Village, where subsistence fishermen will give you a rare insight into their daily lives; you will sit with village elders in Khwai River Village and learn of their struggle to sustain their livelihood in such a remote area and to maintain their traditional customs. The local women are happy to share their proud tradition of beautiful and intricate basket weaving.
Orient-Express Safaris can arrange for you to be guided by professional Animal Communicator (Whisperer) Anna Breytenbach, who will enhance your understanding of the lives of wild animals by learning the fine art of tracking. As you develop your awareness skills and observation techniques, you will soon start to look at the surrounding landscape like a local scout. You will find out how to answer questions such as: what animal is this, where is it moving to and why, and when was it last here?
Anna will also teach you the art of animal communication, which she says is simply remembering the universal language between species. She will remind you how to use your natural intuition and abilities to communicate with the wild animals you encounter. You will begin to understand an animal’s perspective on its world, the choices they need to make, how they express themselves and how we can respond to them in a way that they will comprehend.
From Environmentalist Onx Manga, you will learn of the lives of the Bushmen who lived in the area thousands of years ago. You will visit the ancient and rare Bushmen paintings and the small forest of African Baobabs, giant “upside down” trees, which are thousands and thousands of years old.
After dinner, while relaxing around the campfire under the star-studded sky, you will be transported by magical African folklore and other mystical stories such as the connection between the Orion constellation and the Egyptian pyramids.
It is such an experience, so far removed from our fast-paced modern every-day lives, that will give those who are honoured to be part of it, a deeper understanding of the Great Dance of Life.
